The Deal Mommy Guide to TSA friendly toiletries #Travel

LUSH Bath & Body Products

As I’m packing today for Paris, I just wanted to take a minute to share an article I found on Budget Travel Magazine’s site that mentions two LUSH products I don’t travel without: Solid Shampoo and Toothies.

Solid Shampoo is a great way to get around the TSA and still have great hair. I’ve been using the same “Squeaky Green” bar for three years now and it’s not even half gone. This stuff seriously lasts like crazy as long as you let it dry after each use so it doesn’t get goopy.

Toothies are a more recent addition to my travel bag, but I LOVE them for long flights. They’re basically toothpaste that works without either water OR a toothbrush. Ingenious!

I first found Lush in Australia about 15 years ago, then again in Ireland, and a couple of years ago they set up shop here in the US. For newcomers, basically Lush is a small(-ish) company that hand-makes the most AMAZING bath products on Earth! I’m a fan of the bath bombs (warning…only use 1/2 at a time unless you have a huge tub), the solid shampoos for travel, and anything “honey” like “honey I washed the kids” soap and the “honey farm” gift set. I’ve been known to go crazy…there was a memorable trip home on Virgin Atlantic with “The Legends” in the overhead bin!

DC Locals can find Lush in Tysons Corner mall, but I find the stuff online to be fresher, and shipping is usually either cheap or free. Warning: nothing at Lush can be called “cheap”, and they pretty much never have sales. But, I will say that Lush is a rare time when you actually get what you pay for when you have to pay full retail!

  1. I love Lush! I usually make do with the provided shampoo at hotels, but pack the solid conditioner since it seems like I only find those at hotels 30% of the time. I also love their bath bombs at home.

Thanks for the tip on Toothies. I’ve been using Wisp brushes, perfect to take on flights to freshen up, but I’m always up for a new product to try.

    • Those toothies came VERY in handy this weekend!
